In the news today, it was reported that a truck struck and killed a 75-year-old pedestrian while he was crossing a Manhattan street on Tuesday. The accident occurred at First Avenue and 89th Street on the Upper East Side around 8:30 a.m. The man, who was on crutches and wearing a reflective vest, was halfway across the street when the light turned green.

The cars began to move forward and he lost his balance and fell backward in the path of a truck’s rear tire. He was hit by a party and tent rental truck from Ace Party Rental. Rescue crews transported the injured pedestrian to New York-Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation on how the accident happened is in progress.
