Posted in Products Liability on March 12, 2012
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada in cooperation with Bumbleride Inc. of San Diego California, has recalled Bumbleride Indie & Indie Twin Strollers. The product was made in Taiwan and has a faulty front wheel that could lead to a child being injured.
The company has received numerous complaints from users of the strollers stating that the front wheel cracked at the axle. So far, 36 cases have been reported and two of these cases have resulted in minor injuries. Consumers should know that it is against the law to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
If you have purchased a Bumbleride Indie or Indie Twin Stroller, you should refrain from using the item and immediately contact Bumbleride to receive a free retrofit kit that will fix the front wheel. Approximately 30,000 strollers have been sold from January 2009 through August 2011 through a variety of USA retail store locations and online vendors that retail for $500 to $700 each.
Whenever you purchase an infant or toddler product, do your best to register the product online or by mail with the manufacturer. Registering the product ensures that the manufacturer has the ability to notify you immediately of any product defects that will help prevent the risk of an accident or injury.
For additional questions regarding the Bumbleride Indie or Indie Twin Strollers, contact them toll-free at (800) 530-3930 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
