Brooklyn — A pedestrian was crossing a busy intersection at New Utrecht Avenue, 50th Street and 12th Avenue about 12:30 p.m. on Monday when he was struck and killed by a van. The victim, a 69-year-old man, was rushed to Maimonides Hospital by ambulance. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the van, a 59-year-old man, said that the pedestrian walked into the street in front of him and he was unable to stop in time. The driver of the van stayed at the scene and was not charged by police. Residents of the neighborhood stated that the three-road intersection is very dangerous because you can’t tell who has the right of way.
