Two pedestrians were hit, one fatally, within hours of each other in Manhattan on Friday, December 9, 2011. The first accident occurred on West 57th Street and 10th Avenue when a 58-year-old man was hit by a motorcycle.
The man whose identity has not been released pending notification of family was taken to Roosevelt Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:00 a.m. The driver of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old male, suffered head injuries in the accident. His injuries are not life-threatening.
About two hours later, another pedestrian was struck by a van at West 44th Street and 8th Avenue. He was also taken to Roosevelt Hospital and was in serious condition. The driver of the van left the scene and the police are searching for him.
